Spaghetti, Fettuccine Alfredo, Lasagna, or Gnocchi? What is your favorite? When your family makes pasta for dinner, what type do you hope is piled on your plate? You are not alone if you love pasta. Americans eat an average of 20lbs of pasta per year and 86% of Americans eat pasta at least once per week. That is a lot of pasta and makes it something to celebrate!
October 17th is National Pasta Day. Instead of throwing spaghetti against the wall to see if it sticks; eat this delicious food that is created from wheat, water, flour, and eggs. With all the shapes and sizes, pasta is a very famous dish worldwide. After Italian immigrants came to America in the late 19th century, spaghetti became a popular dish in America. The most popular pasta are spaghetti, macaroni, and penne. Have you eaten one of these in the last week, if not, I guarantee someone you know has.
There are many benefits to eating pasta, for example whole grain noodles provide fiber and energy. Athletes are known to “carb load” before a game to ensure they have energy. Let’s recommend Central athletes “carb load” in hopes of winning more games. Another reason to celebrate pasta is because It is one of the easiest dishes to make. Did you know pasta comes in around 600 different shapes. Have you ever wondered how much pasta Italians eat? They eat about 600 kilometers of noodles, that is enough to wrap around the earth 15 thousand times.
